Building Diversity Awards — From Awareness to Action, 2021 – 2025

The Challenge

In 2021, Toronto’s construction industry faced increasing scrutiny for its lack of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
TCBN wanted to create an event that would spark dialogue, spotlight changemakers, and open real career pathways—while the world was still navigating the pandemic.

With restrictions in place and heightened sensitivity around DEI, TCBN needed a partner who could design a meaningful, credible, and fully virtual launch that felt human and connected.

Confirmed Outcomes:

$75K → $350K sponsorship growth in 5 years

500+ youth hired into construction roles

Expanded from local to national platform

Ongoing provincial & municipal acknowledgement

Client Testimonial

“Debonair produced the event live from a studio and delivered it virtually using a highly engaging platform that provided plenty of opportunities for guests to network and showcase our members, partners, and sponsors.Dwayne Rutherford and his team played key roles in the design, finance, marketing, and logistics of the event. They secured nominations, sponsorships, location, event platform, speakers, and entertainment. They worked cohesively with our internal staff to ensure smooth communications and timely project management of the event.I highly recommend Debonair Corporate Events and will use their services year over year for this and any other major event we organize.”—Executive Director, Toronto Community Benefits Network
